Belfast, North of Ireland - Clonard Monastery (Pt. 1) - August 2025

Continuing on our black cab tour of Belfast, we next went to Clonard Monastery. Senator George Mitchell met with several of the religious leaders from both sides as part of the peace talks there. (Coincidentally, J's cousin worked for Sen. Mitchell for a while prior to becoming a state senator.)

Coincidentally, the monastery is also gorgeous. This post will just be the outside, as I took too many photos practically for one post.

The rose window is a highlight of the monastery. It was designed similarly to the ones on the Notre Dame. 22-foot in diameter, and the stained glass was largely manufactured by a company in Dublin.

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
