Orlando, Florida - Universal Studios - November 2024

Fair warning, all of these are crummy phone photos. I love my good camera, but an amusement park didn't seem like the best destination for it.

We made a super-quick trip to Orlando to go to each of the Universal Studios parks (one each day). We'd been several years back, but C was too small at the time to go on much... not that he'd wanted to, because at the time he was terrified of everything. He's about six years older and a whole bunch more comfortable with rides now, so it was a good time to go - while A was still young enough to enjoy it.

This is one big post for the two days; it seemed easier to condense into one big post.

Child with curly hair excitedly looking at a cafeteria tray of chicken nuggets, fries, and a sushi roll. Light wooden table background.
Bonefish Grill. C got the kid's meal - the chicken nuggets came with a "kids sushi" - which was just a Rice Krispie bar with a Swedish fish attached to it with some froot tape.

Two people stand smiling in front of the iconic Universal globe. The globe is blue and gold, surrounded by mist, with palm trees nearby.

Giant Universal globe with gold letters in misty fountain setting; palm trees and clear sky in the background create a lively atmosphere.

Child wearing a blue shirt enjoying a decorated donut outdoors, with colorful sculpture and people in the background. Cloudy sky.
A little bit of Portland in the heart of the Universal Citywalk. C really enjoyed Voodoo Donuts - probably mostly because he liked the voodoo guy donut.

Neon-lit entrance for Universal's Great Movie Escape at night, featuring bright blue and yellow colors against a dark sky.
When we first arrived, we went here and did a Jurassic Park-themed escape room.

Three people pose smiling in front of Universal Studios Florida entrance. Prominent Halloween Horror Nights sign. Evening setting, clear sky.
Outside the main park. The parks were open at night for the Halloween Horror Nights, but we didn't go back for that because the days were already super-long.

Dimly lit medieval-style hall with large chandeliers, wooden beams, and framed pictures. People sit at wooden tables, creating a cozy atmosphere.
Just passing through The Leaky Cauldron. We didn't eat there, but did eat at The Three Broomsticks. In all honesty, it was probably the best food I had the whole trip.

Three people stand smiling in front of Moe's Tavern entrance with red letters, purple trim, green diamond windows. Sign says "OPEN." Mood is cheerful.
We ate right in the bar at Moe's. We didn't get a Flaming Moe this time, but enjoyed it last time.

Two people pose joyfully next to a bronze statue of Jebediah Springfield. It's sunny, with a waterfront and colorful buildings behind them.
"A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man." Our smallest man and slightly bigger woman loved Simpsons-land.

Alien character stands by glowing cave entrance with textured, rocky surface. Background features vibrant red and yellow light patterns.
I was the one who could even enjoy the ET ride ironically. Take your joy where you can find it, guys.

Four people wearing 3D glasses smile indoors against a textured wall. Warm lighting, neutral tones, and casual clothing create a cheerful mood.
We look so cool... I think this was getting ready for the Transformers ride, maybe?

Child poses with cartoon character mascots in front of a pink building with decorative trim. Characters are joyful and colorful.
C is a huge Simpsons fan, so this was sort of awesome for him.

Man in a green shirt and cap holds a decorative milkshake with whipped cream and cookies. Busy cafe with people in the background.
J and I shared a strawberry shortcake malt at the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium. It was outlandish, and pretty good, but also maybe just a little too much.

Crowds stroll through a themed village with snowy rooftops and whimsical buildings under a clear blue sky, capturing an enchanting atmosphere.
Hogsmeade is busy even first thing in the morning - so many people everywhere.

A castle with tall spires stands on a rocky hill under a clear blue sky, surrounded by green trees. The mood is majestic and serene.
Hogwarts in the morning

Bright candy shop with green walls, checkered floor. Shelves filled with sweets. Customers browsing, festive decorations hanging. Cheerful vibe.
Honeydukes - first customers of the day

Person with curly hair and glasses smiling while holding a frothy drink in a rustic cafe setting, wearing a black shirt with orange text.
A with a butterbeer-d. ("Butter-stache" doesn't have the same punniness.)

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
