Pufferbilly Days Photo Contest - 2025

Oops. I just realized that the Pufferbilly Days Photo Contest was back in September last year, and I forgot to post about it. Not a strong showing there, Ang.

The last time I posted about this particular photo contest was back in 2022. The reason for this is that I was super-fortunate to win Best in Show then, so my friend CDB of www.photography139.com asks the winners to be judges for the competition for the next two years. Ergo, I was judging in 2023 and 2024, so 2025 was my chance to return to the contest as a competitor.

Fortunately, CDB provided us all a copy of the book.

(Make sure to right-click and select "Two-Pages Continuous" for the viewing method.) Here are my entries, their categories/names, and how each did.

Ornate cathedral ceiling with intricate fan vaulting and sunlight streaming through stained glass windows. Colorful heraldic flags hang below.
"Westminster Window Flares" - Category "Outside Iowa Places" - Honorable Mention in Category
Child in a white fur hood holds a red apple against a snowy background, appearing calm and curious.
"Snow White" - Category "Humans" - 1st Place in Category
Close-up of a pink coneflower with a spiky brown center, set against a blurred green background, creating a vibrant, natural scene.
"Coneflower Texture" - Category "Plants" - 3rd Place Overall

A grasshopper perches on a green plant against a vibrant green background, creating a natural and lively scene.
"Peekaboo" - Category "Animals" - Best in Show

I feel very fortunate that this goofy little grasshopper got Best in Show, and the award was a super-cool laser-cut train trophy. I'll be back in Boone as a judge for the next two years, and feel very fortunate. Thanks so much to CDB for continually running a very well-organized, respectful show that democratizes photography to all.

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
