Dublin, Ireland - Howth (Part 1 - Pier) - August 2025

After our visits to the cathedrals, we met up again with CDB and Andy to go out to the Howth area for a short cruise on the Dublin Bay and a short tour of the area.

On the way to Howth, there was a little bit of confusion with the tours (more on that in the next post). So when we got there, we had to walk around the pier a little bit on our way to the cruise company. Below are a few photos out and about the Howth pier.

Colorful map of Howth, Dublin, mounted on a stone wall. Features roads, landmarks, and sailing boats. Text: "Map of Howth, Co. Dublin."
We were located up on the top of the peninsula in the pier. Probably obviously, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to belabor a point. We eventually took the Howth cliff walk but I don't think we got all of the way to the little Florida wang-looking area down in the southeast.

Lighthouse with a red railing by a stone pier on a sunny day. People walk on the pier; calm blue sea and clear sky in the background.
Lighthouse!
Red boat named Pinalia docked at a pier, with Irish flag. Lifebuoys on top, mountains and sea visible in the background. Calm setting.
And boats!
Stone-fronted shop with blue awning, “Nicky’s Plaice” sign above. Chalkboard advertises oysters. Flower pots and plaques decorate the exterior.
This "plaice" was painfully quaint.

Fishing boats in a harbor; a yellow and black boat in the foreground, a white vessel behind. Calm blue water and distant hills under a cloudy sky.
Seagull soaring in a clear blue sky, wings spread wide. Bright daylight enhances the bird's patterned feathers. Peaceful and free mood.
Lighthouse beside calm sea, clear sky; two people walking on rocky pier. Tall post on right, vibrant mood.

Lighthouse and beacon on a rocky pier with blue sea and clear sky. Few people are visible on the pier, adding a serene, coastal vibe.
Lighthouse with red railing against a clear blue sky. White weather vane on top. Mood is calm and clear.
I may have officially exhausted the views of the lighthouse... from land.

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
