Dublin's St. Patrick's Cathedral is a pretty classic example of Early English Gothic architecture. It has the traditional cruciform layout, flying buttresses (which is just a great phrase), ribbed vaults, and some towers that were added on some 600 years after its creation between 1220 and 1260. It is the oldest church in Ireland, and is standing on the grounds of an earlier church where it was near a holy well where supposedly St. Patrick baptized converts. No information is known on if the ground was formerly inhabited by snakes.
