Dublin, Ireland - Temple Bar - August 2025

We were so lucky to get to go to Ireland for the Iowa State/Kansas State football game in August 2025. It was J's first time in Europe, so I tried to come up with activities that he'd enjoy.

The first day we landed (Wednesday), I scheduled us a walking tour of downtown Dublin. There was a lot of history covered by our tour guide, Dan. He did an incredible job, and it was well worth it. J has an incredible sense of direction once he orients himself, so it also served to help us navigate the town for the rest of the trip.

We met just by the Temple Bar, so here are just a few photos of perhaps the most famous bar in the world. (I only got photos of the inside with my phone, apologies in advance.)

Red-bricked Temple Bar with colorful flowers. Three people converse outside. Vibrant flags above. Text: The Temple Bar, estd. 1840.
We got down here before the absolute sea of Cyclone and Wildcats fans.
Street scene with The Temple Bar, vibrant flowers, colorful flags, and people walking. Red brick building, bicycles, and urban atmosphere.
Fellow gawkers.
Red storefront of The Temple Bar in Dublin with hanging flower baskets, vibrant colors, and signage. Cobblestone street adds charm.
I'm not a drinker, but you can't deny that it's a gorgeous bar. (I'm unsure about the oysters, however.)
Red pub, The Temple Bar, covered in colorful flowers and signs, including Power Whiskey. Brick background, vibrant and lively scene.
Sir William Temple featured on the relief.
The Temple Bar exterior: vibrant red facade with hanging flower baskets, vibrant street setting, and visible signs, creating a lively atmosphere.
Entrance to Temple Bar with tiled "THE TEMPLE BAR" on the floor. Guests on black and red "TEMPLE BAR" mat. Casual atmosphere.
Phone photo - entryway mosaic.
Busy pub scene with people gathered at a bar under a red ceiling decorated with banners. "Temple Bar" text on the floor. Cozy, lively mood.
I went inside for a few just to gawk. Lovely bar area.
Cozy bar with people gathered around tables, musician on stage playing guitar. Warm lighting, red ceiling, framed photos on walls.
There was a super-quaint band in the main seating area. There were not, however, any seats.

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
