General Baoase (Day 4 - Pt. 2) - Willemstad, Curacao - November 2025

We got back sometime mid- to late-afternoon on 11/28/26 from our ATV tour. I took a long, long shower to get all of the dust off of me, and then went around to get some more photos around the resort.

So, it probably helps if I explain a little bit about the way the resort is structured. Everything is built around a lagoon that has this awesome rock wall protecting it from waves, which makes it really safe for kids but still is part of the ocean. Here's a map I annotated, explanation in the caption:

R (purple circle) is the beach restaurant overlooking the lagoon and the beach bar. North of it, V4 (green circle) was our villa - we selected it because it was a full house, had a hot tub, and was right into the main pool. Last time, we were in BS8 (yellow circle), which had its own hot tub and overlooked the ocean with its own private beach. S (blue circle and then arrow) is the second restaurant (Sunset Deck), and then a walkway to a new area they call Bida Island with a third restaurant/bar and beach area. As you can see, everything is sort of built around the lagoon. (They were finishing building some new villas in the NE area of this map when we were there.)

I'll try and sort of explain things a little as I go through the photos, as needed.

Two wooden bridges are set along the path to get out to the beach bar. These little Balinese effects are everywhere.

This is a photo from the little beach bar (island) area. Next to each little cabana are flags you can raise whenever you need something to drink or eat.

Looking out over the lagoon from the beach bar toward the main beach restaurant. Someone swims out to these little boats (there are three) each night and lights the little lanterns on them to look upon as people dine.

CRD and I made great use of the snorkel gear.

These little cabanas on the docks jutting out at right have these netted loungers. AKD and I made use of them!

The main beach restaurant is eclectic and comfortable. You end up spending a couple of hours at most meals, so the comfort is very welcome.

Carlos is the main person who takes guests on expeditions around the island, including the sunset cruises. He and I chatted for a while, and he told me about some trips to Florida he has upcoming to visit friends.

I wasn't able to have a massage the last time we came as it was shortly after the pandemic had loosened a bit. It became a huge favorite of mine on this trip - you enter through these doors, and then go into open-air gazebos that look out over the ocean. All you hear are waves as you get your massage - it rained one of the times, and that was even more relaxing.

I went back to our villa and AKD joined me to roam around a little more. <3

These fishing barges were heading back to shore. Not pictured here - this was when the US was heavily bombing Venezuela waters, which is so near Curacao you can actually see it on a clear day from the western shore. There were a lot of Dutch war ships and airplanes that went by during our time, as this is a Dutch colony. We were lucky to have headed home when we did, as later visitors were stuck when the airports had to close down.

This little waterfall is right at the edge of the swimming pool that was adjacent to our villa.
