Halloween - October 2022

After enjoying themselves in some historical costumes in 2021, the kids each revisited the idea. A took a turn as Edgar Allen Poe, and C was a British royal guard.

I had been to London earlier that fall and had visited Buckingham Palace on the day the queen died (see associated post), at which time I got him a hat for a royal guard. He was super-interested in the guards at the time, so getting one home in my carry-on was an exercise in self-brutality. A, on the other hand, had a blast as Poe (even though few knew who she was) - my parents and her Uncle Pete had both been to Baltimore to the Poe Museum just prior, and brought her home souvenirs.

We had our regular crew of four, plus A's best friend at the time, O, doing trick-or-treating. I'd dressed up as the queen a day prior to trick-or-treating to pose for a few photos with C, and then our friends' daughter A surprised him by doing the exact same the night of. I had to get some photos of them together!

I love that A is wearing my shoes here, and that they were still just a little too big so that she stepped out of them.

C's mustache is magic.

For some reason, A thought it would be hilarious to pretend to kick C in the butt, which he found hilarious. They both took to this with great affinity, and I think they've recreated it each year since.

I love how perfect this costume is for him.

It's just a good-looking costume.

C's little cheeks poking out over the elastic are the best.

Putting the "shuffling off this mortal plane" makeup under A's eyes felt really grim.

Our friend A surprising C - it was just perfect.

A tin-foil crown really pulls together the look.

Housekeeping note - in the most-recent post prior to this, I started using my logo as a watermark instead of words. Not sure it works better or worse, but it takes less time, so there you go.

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
