La Madeleine - September 2022

The timing of this post is somewhat purposeful - it was next in the Paris lineup and the timing was somewhat organic, but I did time this post for today specifically.

Most people reading this probably know the story of our eldest daughter who was stillborn, Madeleine Rose. We spelled her name the classic French way on purpose. She was our first baby, our IVF miracle. Her original due date was November 14, 2009. She should have been fifteen years old today, rather than having had her fifteenth birthday/anniversary of her passing this past summer.

When we were in Paris, after visiting L'Arc de Triomphe, we specifically went to La Madeleine, or the Church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine. It was beautiful, a Greek facade with 52 Corinthian columns. It purposely is lowly lit, so my photos did not turn out incredible.

La Madeleine
The Corinthian columns are so striking.

La Madeleine
So French, so lovely, so elegant.

Domes of La Madeleine
The domes at the top of la egliesa have a lovely glass oculus at the top of each.

Place de la Madeleine
Place de la Madeleine in the 8th Arrondissement

If anyone does decide to visit La Madeleine when visiting France, afterwards go right across the street to Maille for some of the most amazing French mustard you'll ever eat.

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
