London, England - Tower Bridge - August 2024

My favorite bridge in London, hands down, is Tower Bridge. It's just the coolest-looking, and it's an entire experience. Its history and adjacency to the Tower of London is also super-cool. Just look at this thing! It's got more personality than pretty much any other bridge on the planet.

You can take a tour of Tower Bridge (bookings at the link above). It will take you up the North Tower and museum, you walk across the glass walkways over the roadway (the glass is on the bottom so you can see the cars underneath), you come down the South Tower, follow the blue line, and then finish in the Engine Rooms and gift shop. I really wanted to do this but A was not having it with the heights and seeing cars, so we instead walked across it at street level, and then went to the gift shop. For reference, this is known to be one of the best little gift shops in London for quality souvenirs - and it was! In my humble opinion, walking across at ground level was far more frightening than it would be to walk above it, but I digress.

Some of these photos were from inside of the Tower grounds, but most were either along the North Bank just outside of it, or across the bridge on the South bank.

Tower Bridge over River Thames with blue sky, iconic architecture, and a red bus crossing. Classic London scenery with historic charm.
I do love a double-decker bus.

Tower Bridge with blue accents spans the Thames under a cloudy sky, city buildings in the distance. No people visible. Tranquil mood.
You can sort of see the glass bottoms on the walkways in this view.

Tower Bridge in London with a tour boat sailing underneath. The sky is cloudy and the Thames River is visible.
I love that boat "buses" are part of the London public transport system. We didn't end up taking it, but it's a great way to get to the Tulip Stairs in the Queen's House and the international date line. I'd like to go there next time I visit.

Woman with curly hair in a blue top stands smiling by Tower Bridge, London. Cloudy sky, trees, and the river visible in the background.
Proof that my kid was there. This view was from inside of the Tower, I believe. Most of the others are from the little walkway you can see behind her, which runs along the bank of the Thames.

I really enjoyed utilizing time lapses.

Tower Bridge in grayscale, spanning the River Thames. Dramatic clouds fill the sky, enhancing the historic architecture's bold presence.
It even looks magnificent in black and white! The lady looks good in grey.

Tower Bridge over the River Thames on a sunny day with blue sky and fluffy clouds. Historic buildings and trees in the background.
This is a terrible phone photo from the South Bank. You can see the White Tower in the Tower of London behind the break in the trees.

People walk on Tower Bridge under gray skies. The bridge's towers and blue railings are visible. The scene is busy and bustling.
A crappy phone photo of walking across Tower Bridge. Lots and lots of people, even though it sprinkled off and on all day!

City skyline with modern glass buildings, including The Shard. Overcast sky, two red cranes visible. River in foreground, moody atmosphere.
The Shard is along the South Bank of the Thames, just west of Tower Bridge. I know it's very divisive, but I think it is fascinating.

Tall, curved skyscraper against a cloudy sky, surrounded by historic buildings with ornate facades and a church spire, creating a contrast.
Crappy phone photo. I think this building is nicknamed The Microphone or similar?

Street view with The Shard tower in the background. Buildings line the street, signs for "The Indian Eatery" and a decorative clock are visible.
I love mixing the old and the new.

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
