London, England - King's Cross & Dishoom - August 2024

After Harrod's, we popped across town to go to the London Transport Museum, for which I don't have any photos - it's a great museum, though, all dedicated to black cabs, the Underground, trains, and double decker buses. We then came west to go to King's Cross/St. Pancras Stations so that A could visit Platform 9 3/4, and then we went to dinner at the Dishoom - King's Cross. Dishoom is considered one of the best Indian food restaurants in the world, and we specifically went to the King's Cross location, which is an old railway transit shed. It has a specific history to the Indian citizens of Great Britain as a godown, and its decor is specifically celebratory of that.

Pink Maserati sports car parked in front of St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London. Red brick building, overcast sky. License plate: 17 JJ.
I think that's a Maserati chilling in front of St. Pancras Hotel and station. And maybe another one in front of it. This is an expensive hotel, is what I'm saying.

People with luggage outside King's Cross station entrance. Glass roof and brick buildings in the background. Busy, bustling atmosphere.
I'd been to King's Cross before, but wanted to give A the experience - this entrance is right by Platform 9 3/4.

People photograph a girl posing with luggage at Platform 9¾, brick wall backdrop, sign visible, lively atmosphere.
This is Platform 9 3/4. It's basically a tourist trap, but that didn't stop me from doing this pose when the first time I went. However, A didn't want to be embarrassed and apparently has more chill than I do.

People stand outside the Harry Potter shop at Platform 9¾, King's Cross. A woman in a white skirt holds a phone, others enter. Brick wall backdrop.
If you want to buy the photos from the cart in the wall, you coincidentally have to walk through this giant Harry Potter shop.

Oval sign on a wooden wall reads: DISHOOM, DO ROTI HAR INSAAN KA HAQ, KX GODOWN. Warm lighting and rustic setting.
On to some of the best Indian food outside of India in the world!

Bustling cafe with people seated at a bar. Large clock overhead, industrial interior, checkered floor, warm lighting. Relaxed atmosphere.
You can tell here it was an old railway shed.

Woman at a restaurant table with a menu titled "DISHOOM." Candlelight, utensils, and people are in the blurred background. Cozy atmosphere.
They let me gank this menu - our waiter was incredible. And as this was A's birthday dinner, they brought us a complimentary chili ice cream lava cake at the end. It was hella spicy.

Person dining at a cozy restaurant, enjoying Indian food. Warm lighting, visible candle and metal cups. Lively atmosphere with wooden decor.
A has a samosa left on her plate (mine were all gone), then we also got Chicken Ruby and some garlic naan. Dishoom is the best Indian food I've ever had, hands down.

Victoria line, Southbound platform 4 at King's Cross. White tiled walls, London Underground sign, and station map, no people.
The Victoria Line is one of my favorites. The Underground truly is the most efficient way to get around London.

London Underground train at station, passengers visible inside. Red, white, and blue colors. Bright platform, signs overhead, calm atmosphere.
Here comes our Tube!

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
