Dublin, Ireland - Howth (Part 3 - Wildlife & Stores) - August 2025

Today we return to Howth. We got done with our boat tour, and decided to walk along the pier and storefronts. There was a very performative seal and a bunch of birds, which was fun. For us, anyway - here we go.

Seal's head above rippling water near a rope. The seal appears calm, with water reflecting green and blue hues, creating a serene mood.
The eye contact from this seal was disturbingly intense. He really liked attention, though.

Seagull perched on a streetlamp against a clear blue sky, with a weathered metal pole visible. The mood is calm and serene.

Seagull mid-flight against a cloudy sky, wings spread wide. Bright daylight illuminates its speckled feathers. Moody and serene setting.
The seagulls were also very excited that it stopped raining.

A seal with closed eyes and whiskers rests at the water's surface, surrounded by rippling green-blue water, creating a serene mood.
I think the seal got the attention he wanted - check out that smile.

There were a lot of fishmongers along the storefronts. We went into several, and got some food from a food cart. There's something so melancholy about a pile of dead fish with their faces still attached.

This was a super-cute little store attached to a restaurant. I got some magnets and a totebag here, but I could have spent a whole lot of money. What I DID take away from this store was a sprained ankle when I managed to not see the step down as I was leaving. (I only mention it because it hampered me in next week's post.)

This bird was trying to disassemble some Christmas lights as we were eating some ice cream. He then strutted around a fair amount begging us for food.

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
