Halloween - October 2017

2017 was a year that was a lot more fun for Halloween. As C was now just over 3, he was able to trick-or-treat for a little longer. Of course, this year he went to some of our dear friends' house and heard their dog barking, and got scared and came home immediately. But he got a full bag of candy before then!

A had two different iterations of this costume. It was a Mary Poppins costume (which is what is in most of the photos), but she also was a suffragette - see one of the last two photos, where a friend of mine made her a sash to celebrate "Votes for Women." It had a little difficulty staying up on her tiny shoulder, so she opted to not wear it during the night of actual Halloween for the whole time, just a few houses.

A - age 7 - Mary Poppins/suffragette C - age 3 - police officer (which he pronounced "oppicer")

Two smiling kids in costumes sit on a bench between pumpkins with googly eyes and mustache stickers. Background: white siding. Playful mood.
So stinking cute. Also, fact: every pumpkin should have a mustache.

Two children in costumes, a police officer and Mary Poppins, sitting on a bench with decorated pumpkins. The mood is playful and festive.
A was over sitting here, but C was clearly just getting warmed up.

A standing in the most delightful way.

I mean, check out the guns and abs on that officer.

Child in a gray coat and black hat smiles, holding a purple umbrella. Autumn leaves in the background evoke a cheerful, cozy mood.
I'm positive Julie Andrews wore a Fitbit while playing the part in the 60s classic film.

Peanut is just bursting with glee in every single photo. He was SO excited to show off his costume.

Child in costume with hat and glasses holds an umbrella, sitting between two pumpkins with googly eyes on a wooden bench. Playful mood.
Our dainty little Pickle - she was just the best Mary Poppins, because she was so well-mannered and kind.

Remember how I mentioned C is a wild card? Keep in mind that he is THREE here, and he commits this hard to a comedy bit.

Two children sitting on a couch, reading a book titled "Everyone Poops." One wears glasses, the other a police cap. Cozy setting.
How would Mary Poppins and a police "oppicer" spend their time before hitting the town together? By Mary reading Everyone Poops to our boy in blue.

Child in a blue costume holds an orange pumpkin bucket, walking with a woman and a girl in pink. Suburban street with fall trees.
We are so lucky that my parents live so nearby. My mom was happy to take the grandkids to several houses so that J and I could trade off handing out candy at home.

Child in suffragette costume with "Votes for Women" sash, another as a police officer, and an adult smiling. Indoor setting, cheerful mood.
Uncle M was visiting from California during "Boo with ZEW," an event put on by a club at ISU's Vet Met School. The kids adore him. Here is our feminist in her awesome sash.

A man in a gray shirt smiles at a child dressed as a police officer, who holds a pen. They're at a desk with papers in an office setting.
After we had dropped Uncle M off at the airport, we stopped by and visited Grandpa at work. There were zero trick-or-treat events associated with this trip, but C still insisted on wearing his costume.

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
