Black & White Ruined Stuff - Ames, Iowa - September 2025

There's just something about decaying, rotting things that looks fantastic and "right" in black and white. I don't make the rules.

Broken window frames a dark room with tilted, illuminated windows. Black and white, evokes mystery and abandonment.

Broken glass window with missing frosted panes, set in a brick wall. Black and white, creating a stark, abandoned mood.

Cracked patterned glass window with jagged holes, revealing darkness beyond. The window has a textured, peeling white frame.

Old brick building with broken windows and a weathered door. The setting appears abandoned, conveying a sense of decay and neglect.

Black and white image of a barn's weathered metal roof and wooden siding. A chimney and pulley are visible. Mood is rustic and aged.

Old electrical outlet with open cover on a weathered brick wall and chipped paint nearby. Monochrome setting with rustic texture.
This doesn't seem all that safe.

Abandoned building with peeling paint and broken windows, black and white photo. Weathered doors and debris on the ground evoke decay.

It's my hope that people see the photos of all of the broken windows and doors and assume that I did it. I did not. But it sort of would make me seem like a badass.

My name is Angie.  I find normal to be largely boring.  I am really lucky to get to spend time behind my camera doing all kinds of fun things, and also super-really annoying my kids by taking a million photos of them.
